The number of foreclosures in the United States is at an all-time high. Many homeowners who have an adjustable rate mortgage have seen their payments steadily rise over the past several years, often to the point where they can no longer afford the payment. If you or someone you know is in this type of predicament, there are a number of action steps that could be considered.
However, it’s essential that the homeowner seek professional help in assessing the situation and weighing the options. At CCCS of the Black Hills, our experience has been that early intervention and counseling are effective in helping homeowners find workable solutions and in avoiding foreclosure. Our counselors have the expertise to help individuals and families address their financial challenges. CCCS is part of the South Dakota Mortgage Crisis Hotline. 877-832-0161.
